These days that\u2019s everything anyone ever talks about.<\/p>\n
That everything has changed, that they feel caged, when will this stage be over?<\/p>\n

Sure everything is different.<\/p>\n
But is it?<\/p>\n
Can women walk alone at night without checking their backs?<\/p>\n
Without having to worry about the man in black waiting with a sack for the right time to attack?<\/p>\n
Can we be truly free?<\/p>\n
Not thinking about what others might think if we so much as blink the wrong way or obsessing over how much we weigh?<\/p>\n
Because \u201cHey, don\u2019t be a slut and wear that\u201d or \u201cI don\u2019t think you\u2019re healthy. Here, try this diet\u201d<\/p>\n
We have to explain to boys that no means no over and over again without them backing off.<\/p>\n
Because when you say no you\u2019re considered a bitch. How could you say no then? You don\u2019t want to be that witch who turned them down, because then the whole town would know about it.<\/p>\n
And how could you deal with that social rejection, when it becomes the reflection you see in the mirror.<\/p>\n
Except that mirror starts talking back and it\u2019s not nice.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a backpack full of hurt and resentment and trauma so heavy it nearly gets every woman on hear knees crying and begging please that the weight would lift off her shoulders.<\/p>\n
But who am I to say who has it the hardest?<\/p>\n
I\u2019m just a woman, right?<\/p>\n
Everything different.<\/p>\n
But can every person express themselves?<\/p>\n
Can they be gay or Bi or Trans or even plain straight without judgement?<\/p>\n
Without dirty looks on the street just for holding someone\u2019s hand or kissing them on the cheek?<\/p>\n
Everything different.<\/p>\n
But can every human allow themselves not to be afraid?<\/p>\n
Of people attacking them for the way they look? Can they be an open book when they have to check every nook for enemies before they speak the truth?<\/p>\n
Can they trust their own country\u2019s safety system?<\/p>\n
When we\u2019ve seen other nations turn on their own residents because they can\u2019t shake off all the hate and insanity and cruelty from more than 100 years ago.<\/p>\n
Because they don\u2019t care that they have soul, a family, a name.<\/p>\n
All they want is see that flame burning and still feel no shame.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh we were taught to hate your people, it\u2019s not our fault\u201d<\/p>\n
Or<\/p>\n

So many people talking about this new stage and how they have a lot on their plate and how desperately they\u2019re trying to find their soulmate.<\/p>\n
But guess what?<\/p>\n
Every 10 seconds a child dies of hunger.<\/p>\n
1 in 3 women is sexually harassed or raped globally.<\/p>\n
Over 300 people of color were shot by the American police in 2019 alone.<\/p>\n
Everything different.<\/p>\n
But is it?<\/p>\n
